Pride & Prejudice: 1-Day Peak District Tour from Manchester
Your itinerary
What are men to rocks and mountains? Elizabeth Bennet famously asked, and on this full-day pilgrimage to the Peak District, you’ll discover the answer for yourself. We’ve designed a tour that captures both sides of the Austen spirit: the rugged, independent adventurer and the lover of beauty and culture. Spend your morning breathing in the crisp air atop the Ramshaw Rocks and your afternoon wandering the halls of Chatsworth House, the 'Jewel of the Peaks.' It’s a day of literary discovery, breathtaking scenery, and the best of the English countryside. No carriage required, just a good pair of walking boots. Travel sustainably in our 100% electric vehicle as we journey from the streets of Manchester to the heart of Austen country.
Tour schedule

Lyme Park: The 1995 Pemberley
Visit the grand estate that served as Mr. Darcy’s home in the BBC classic. Walk the beautiful grounds and find the famous lake where Colin Firth took his "impromptu" swim.

Bakewell: A Regency Treat
Explore the picturesque town that inspired Austen’s "Lambton." Wander the riverside paths and treat yourself to an original Bakewell Pudding—a local tradition unchanged since the 1800s.

The Ramshaw Rocks: The 1995 View
Stand atop these unique gritstone formations where Jennifer Ehle gazed out at the wonders of the Peaks. It’s the perfect spot to experience the "wild and rugged" side of the park.

Chatsworth House: The Jewel of the Peaks
Step into the golden halls of the estate Austen envisioned as Pemberley. Marvel at the soaring sculptures and grand galleries that brought Mr. Darcy’s world to life in the 2005 film. (Note: Please pre-book your entry).

Longnor: The Real Lambton Inn
Step back in time in this quaint village. We’ll visit Chapel Street, used as the location for the Lambton Inn where Elizabeth Bennet stayed during her travels.

Stanage Edge: The Iconic Cliff
Stand upon the "Keira Knightley Rock." This dramatic gritstone edge offers the breathtaking views that moved Elizabeth to wonder, "What are men to rocks and mountains?"
